Why I wanted to go to Fitness Street

So if you’ve never heard of Fitness Street, it is also known as Fighter Street, in Phuket I’ll tell you a little about it first.

Fitness Street is a mile long strip with multiple gyms where you can train Muay Thai, Boxing, BJJ, MMA, Hyrox, Crossfit, Yoga, Pilates, Strength and Conditioning. You can train pretty much what you like.

There are plenty of places to eat with healthy meals and some places will even meal prep for you. So if you want to continue counting calories and macros, they’ll tell you on menus.

There are lots of places for recovery as well. Plenty of massage shops, physiotherapists highly recommend Dr Death if you have an injury. There are spas, ice baths, saunas.

If you are on your fitness journey it’s definitely a place to check out. Or like me who wants to get fit again and to lose weight after an injury, it’s got everything you could possibly need. Surrounded by likeminded and supportive people.

Why I wanted to go

So the last few years for me have been rough. I had some health issues which resulted in a doctor hurting my lower back and pelvis during treatment. I went from someone who was always on the go with a physical job and worked out regularly. To someone who literally struggled to get out of bed most days. The lack of movement resulted in me gaining 30KG in weight since 2020. Which also severely affected my mental health. I felt ashamed of myself for allowing myself to gain the weight and not looking after myself. I also ruined my teeth with my anxiety getting worse I ground my teeth in my sleep.

So I have decide to fly over 6000 miles from home in an attempt to make me feel like me again.

I’ve gone from a UK size 10 and weighting 10st 6 up to a UK 16 and weighting 15st 7 in the after picture. I’ve hated myself for allowing myself to get this big. But when you struggle just to physically get out of bed what can you do. So it’s a New Year 2026. It’s time to start a fresh somewhere that no one knows me. And away from the horrible cold and darkness of January in Scotland. To at least try. I’m not expecting miracles but for baby steps in the right direction.
